Item Description

Pezzottaite is the rare Cesium-rich, raspberry-red to pink, member of the Beryl Group named in 2003. It is trigonal while beryl is hexagonal, another major difference. This sculptural cutie looks like a flattopped mushroom, has sharp trigonal form, luster, translucence and pretty raspberry color. The deep pink crystals, which were first designated "raspberry" beryl (beryl framboise), were later shown to be a new mineral species, pezzottaite (Laurs et al. 2003). A fine example of the species from the Type Locality.
