Item Description

An impressive, colorful and sculptural large combination from the famous Annabel Lee Mine. Striking, beautiful, rich amber, translucent, lustrous, striated calcite crystals richly cover over one-half of the sandstone matrix plate. Starkly contrasting bladed snow-white barite covers the rest of the plate, with accenting smaller barite clusters among the calcites adding much pizzazz. The two dominating large doubly terminated, twinned and striated calcites are 5.0 and 4.0 cm. Uncommon and very fine large combination style calcite and barite from the Ted Bartels Collection. Formerly in the Ross Lillie Collection and recovered during advance mining in November, 1988. Ross's label is included.
