Item Description

Striking and colorful color-zoned intergrown fluorite cubes form a sculptural and aesthetic large specimen from recent finds at this classic old Weardale area lead and fluorite mine. Glorious rich purple edge phantoms to 5 mm cover the amber cores with white patches on the glassy, transparent to translucent cubes with satin luster faces. The two impressive large cubes on the crest are 6.7 and 5.3 cm on edge. The cute interpenetrating cube on the uppermost cube is a super accent. This fine piece has several fine display views and is minimally impacted by the corner bruise on the large cube. RICH purple fluorescence, as you would expect. The piece is illustrated in the MINDAT Photo Gallery for the locale with a September, 2018 photo by Stephen Moreton. Classic and excellent large fluorite from the historic Greenlaws Mine.
