Item Description

An impressive, 11.0 x 7.0 cm, elongated stepped-growth fluorite cube dominates this striking large intergrown jumble of fluorite cubes from the famous Blackdene Mine. The satin luster, moderately translucent cubes are mostly classic mottled violet, but preferential patches of bone-white fluorite are a super contrast. Some faces are preferentially peppered with tiny crystals of an unknown sulfide, adding character and color. The glassy quartz point field at one end is a fine accessory and contrast. Bright purple fluoresecence, as you would expect! Excellent and showy large combination material from this famous old first lead, then fluorite mine, that closed in 1987. Choice material from the Ted Bartels Collection with several fine display views.
