Item Description

Classic and outstanding galena and ankerite from this historic old Alston Moor Pb-Zn mine, first worked the late 1770s. A striking intergrown cluster of sharp, lustrous, metallic battleship-gray galena cubes is very aesthetically set on the 3-dimensional crust covered with sharp, pearlescent, oxide-tinted ankerite rhombs. The large cube is 2.7 cm. The isolated small galena cube and scattered tiny golden chalcopyrite sphenoids are super accents on this exceptional and pristine combination from noted collector, Dr. Gene Meieran. This could be an old-timer or from more recent collecting efforts. Valued at $750 and worth it. Try to find another like it.
