Item Description

An amazing and surreal large 360-degree pseudomorph from the Kay Robertson Collection # 6941. Translucent, massive quartz has casted an incredible jackstraw jumble of very sharp elongated crystals, creating a labyrinth of sharp holes. The dissolved crystals appear to have sharp orthorhombic form, suggesting anhydrite. The impressive large sharp "tunnel" is 10.7 cm long and 3.0 cm wide. We count at least 20 casts and casted faces on this piece! This ultimate rarity is possibly from Brazil. Kay's label was lost during the move. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Valued of such a UNIQUE pseudomorph?? We believe in the $1250-1500 range is fair.
