Item Description

Here we have a fine quality specimen of the famous Eosphorites from the world-famous locality on an island in the middle of the Jequitinhonha River. This area is known for producing fine crystallized Rose Quartz specimens and excellent phosphates like Whiteite, Wardite, Zanazziite and of course Eosphorite. It should be noted, that Roscherite has never been confirmed as occurring at this locality, though it often appears on dealers' labels. This specimen is covered with fine quality, sharp, lustrous, golden-brown colored, "sword"-shaped, translucent crystals of Eosphorite on Albite matrix. The largest crystal measures 4 mm and the piece is virtually undamaged, save the periphery where it was removed from the pocket. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8585). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
