Item Description

A classic old time Chrysocolla dating back many decades. The label still refers to the locality as the "Belgian Congo" with Zaire in parentheses. Beautiful rich blue-green colored velvety Chrysocolla sits on layered / banded green Malachite. You can see excellent banding patterns on the side and back of the piece. Wonderful classic material from Katanga. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1405). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
