Item Description

A classic old time Hemimorphite from Santa Eulalia featuring larger than normal crystals. Individual "sword"-shaped blades of soft golden-yellow colored Hemimorphite measuring up to 2.5 cm long are gently coated with small white Calcite crystals around the periphery and sitting beautifully on gossan matrix. The crystals have superb glistening luster with good translucency and fine crystal form. People are used to seeing smaller white "sprays" of Hemimorphite from this locality, but these individual crystals are very distinctive and really eye-catching. I can't find any real damage, and the piece is very aesthetic to boot! These older specimens are seldom seen on the market and certainly worth picking up if you collect Mexican minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7555). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
