Item Description

A STOUT, gemmy, rich greenish-blue colored, "barrel"-shaped, doubly-terminated, etched crystal of fine Aquamarine from the famous Jaqueto Mine. Typically the crystals from the locality are prismatic and narrow, but this one has heft and is about as thick as any I've seen from the locality. The piece has a classic gentle luster on the prism faces and the characteristic somewhat flowing hydrothermal etching patterns. You can also see some attractive geometric / rectangle shapes in addition to the smooth etching patterns. As I said, the piece is doubly-terminated with stepped "teeth"-like terminations on both ends When backlit, you can see it's notably gemmy inside, and would honestly yield some attractive larger gemstone. The piece is priced in the inventory at $6,000, but the gem rough value of the piece is approximately $14,000 in finished stones. The piece has a few contacts, but otherwise pristine and very showy from several angles. This locality has produced some of the purest, most intense natural blue aquamarine for the gem trade in the past - and a few small pockets of specimens as well.
