Fluorapatite on Albite

Item Description

This is a somewhat atypical specimen for the locality as the Fluorapatite crystal is notably tabular in habit, and nearly every other crystal I've seen has been prismatic. It has a soft greyish-blue color in the center that grades into a colorless hue around the periphery with sharp, well-formed faces and decent translucency when backlit. This 8 mm crystal is perched atop bladed, off-white colored, lustrous Albite matrix. There are some small groups of Muscovite coating the Apatite crystal for a nice effect. No damage that I can see with the naked eye, and good quality all around.
