Item Description

A very rarely seen example of iridescent Calcite from Hildesheim. Tiny, sparkling, drusy crystals of Calcite with an iridescent coating / inclusion of an unknown mineral can be seen on the display side of this large miniature / small cabinet specimen. The crystals are beautifully well-formed and actually show a rich sherry-gold color when backlit. Best seen with magnification, but if you collect Calcites or German minerals, these specimens are virtually impossible to find on the market. Don't miss out! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5832). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
