Item Description

A classic display specimen of Azurite from the world famous locality of Touissit. A few, deep midnight azure color bladed crystals with superb luster and a glistening luster make this thumbnail specimen a great overall piece from this locality. Like many Azurites from Touissit, the crystals glow with color when backlit. The color is so intense that it's actually no longer blue, and shows a purple hue! The main crystal is in superb condition, while the small accessory crystals are partially incomplete due to the fact that they grew against the pocket wall. A great piece to round out your Azurite suite, or even more specifically your collection of Azurites from Morocco. The specimen comes from the collection of the well-known mineral collector and rancher Rukin Jelks (1927-2014). You can read his bio at the following link: https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?colid=1767 The piece is also accompanied by a label from Peter Megaw Minerals.
