Item Description

A very good quality and rarely seen specimen of Celestine from the Annabel Lee Mine in southern Illinois. Hundreds of shimmering, lustrous, gemmy to translucent soft blue color prismatic crystals can be seen covering the display side of this showy three-dimensional specimen. The largest Celestine measures 5 mm long. Small white spherical "balls" of Barite can be seen on the piece as well. Excellent quality, very hard to find on the market, and a worthwhile pickup for anybody who collects southern Illinois material. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
