Item Description

This locality in northern Romania actually dates back to the time of the Romans, and is one of the more significant European localities for Stibnite This piece is a very showy classic Romanian Stibnite specimen featuring beautiful metallic crystals of silvery-grey color forming a lovely "spray". The largest Stibnite measurs 13.1 cm long. Nearly every crystal is undamaged, and some of the larger crystals show broad "sword"-shaped habit with notable striations along the prism. A nice large miniature / small cabinet size matrix display specimen of this prized material. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
