Item Description

Ametrine is the name given to a unique, naturally occurring variety of Quartz from Bolivia which is found in purple and yellow bi-color crystals. The dual coloring is said to be created by "Brazil Law Twinning" where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis. When one orients the crystals correctly, the purple and yellow zones line up to creat the famous bicolor gemstones that have been on the market for 30+ years. Here we have a beautiful polished slice of Ametrine featuring natural, bi-color purple and yellow zones. The slice is rather gemmy, but it's important to note that the piece features genuine NATURAL (UNHEATED) yellow Citrine, which is incredibly rare in nature. The best part of this piece is the fact that the outer "rind" is completely intact, which is rare for this material. The piece weighs 73.18 grams. It should be noted that this material that is only found in one place in the world in this quality and capacity! There is no Brazilian Ametrine by the way, if you see anything labeled as from Brazil, it's because the Bolivian material is sent to Brazil for processing / polishing and the Brazilians paste a sticker on the finished items that says "product of Brazil". Priced at $700.
