Item Description

A classic old time Cuprite from Bisbee featuring a small vug filled with incredibly sharp, well-formed, very lustrous, euhedral crytals (mostly showing cubic and octahedral faces) measuring up to about 3 mm sitting on massive Cuprite with a layer of green Malachite on minor oxidized matrix. The Cuprites have that classic metallic appearance on the surface, but they glow BLOOD RED when backlit. Yes, the crytals are small, but they are gorgeous up close. A wonderful piece for any Arizona collector, secondary Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1473). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
