Item Description

The Elmwood Mine is world famous for its superb Calcite and beautiful Fluorite specimens. There are only a handful of species found at this mine, but some of them are truly remarkable for what they are. This toenail sized specimen features a select few cubes of lilac colored Fluorite measuring up to 1.1 cm on edge which are beautifully and possibly epitaxially sitting on silvery-grey cubic Galena crystals. I can see a small amount of "ruby jack" Sphalerite on the top / back edge. A really eye-catching specimen, that would make a nice add to any Elmwood suite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9066). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
