Item Description

The Sawtooth Mountains have produced some amazing Aquamarine crystals over the years, but the area has also given collectors some attractive crystallized Feldspars. This cabinet sized specimen is a good quality display piece featuring notably pinkish colored blocky Microcline crystals. The crystals are not only sharp, blocky, and sculptural, but the main Microcline is actually a Baveno twin! You can clearly see the symmetry plane where the twin formed, and it's sitting so elegantly above the accompanying Microcline crystals. The crystals actually have good luster too! This is certainly a seldom seen specimen of this wonderful material from this remote region in southern central Idaho. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
