Item Description

This is the first specimen of Mimetite from Velardena that we've had to offer in the auctions. A great piece for any Mexican mineral collector, as it immediately fills a spot in your collection. This is an old piece, probably dating back to the 1950s, and nearly impossible to find on the market today. Resinous, golden-yellow to golden-brown semi-radial groups of Mimetite measuring up to about 5 mm across cover the display side of the underlying matrix. The piece displays beautifully as you can see from the photos, and it's in great condition with only a tiny bit of roughness. Priced at $950 in the inventory. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1621). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
