Item Description

The name Siete Suyos translates into "Seven Servants". This locality is sometimes considered to be part of the Animas Mine, but there conflicting opinions as to whether it is a separate locality. Often it is difficult to know specifically where specimens are found in Bolivia, but I had the good fortune of directly obtaining this specimen from the miner who collected it, so I know for certain where it came from. I had never heard of this mine prior to purchasing these specimens, but I was thrilled to get them. Here we have a nice small cabinet display piece featuring several attractive, sharp, gemmy, glowing golden color hexagonal crystals of Siderite measuring up to 8 mm which are sitting atop "flattened" crystal groups of Pyrite which are actually pseudomorphs after compressed rhombohedra of Siderite. If you look closely, you can see tiny associated grey crystals of the rare sulfide, Stannite on the piece, which makes them even more enticing. You don't see many Siderites of this quality from Bolivia. The fact that they are this gemmy, shar and well-formed makes them stand out , even on a worldwide scale. There are very few of these left, and the discovery was quite limited, so if you're a collector of Bolivian minerals, be sure to pick this one up.
