An impressive and rich old-time calcite specimen from the famous Bigrigg Mine of Cumbria. Sharp, water-clear, colorless, classic trigonal nailhead-spar rhombs have satiny luster frosted faces. The crystals reach about 3.5 cm on this very aesthetic 360-degree plate. Complete all-around and essentially pristine. The acceptable periphery wear has negligible impact to the overall high quality of this very fine old-time calcite. From an East Coast collection and comes with a torn and faded century-old label. Calcites of this style, quality and richness are uncommon and are seldom on the market. Valued at $2000-2500.
