Item Description

The famous copper mines at Dzhezkazgan have easily produced the world's finest and largest bornite crystals and excellent sulfide species, such as Betekhtinite, Chalcocite. This outstanding and very aesthetic combination features seven dramatically aligned and isolated sharp crystals and a sharp partially hidden chalcocite crystal on the quartz point covered matrix plate. The octahedrons, to 1.5 cm, have etched/pitted faces and classic for the locale light steel-blue and coppery iridescence. The large bornites and chalcocite are all pristine and the noted scattered bruising certainly has minimal impact to the overall very high aesthetic quality of this fine combination from the 1990s finds. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock and valued by Herb at $1500 over seven years ago. SHockingly sharp, this is a major specimen for what it is
