Item Description

Sculptural, rich and uncommon combination from this less well-known Austrian locale. The striking bench and back wall of the vug dramatically set atop the wedge-shaped matrix is fully lined with three species: gemmy olive-green epidote crystals cover the floor of the bench; and the wall is mostly covered with sharp black augite crystals with some epidotes and contrasting adularia crystals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5289 and acquired from Sol Shale in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Very rich and excellent combination material from the locale.
