Item Description

A very sculptural, 3-dimensional pristine floater cluster of hematite after marcasite crystals from this obscure locale. The sharp platy spearpoints with the nifty nubby knob at one end are nicely burnished brown. An amazingly different 360-degree specimen with every turn presenting a different perspective. These were originally formed as marcasite crystals on the sea bottom and were then pseudomophed, retaining their fantastic form. They were dug in the remote western desert of southwest Egypt by Parisian dealer Alain Carion and his son in the mid-1990s. No more have been found. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection.
