Item Description

Classic and very showy weloganite from the famous Type Locality in Montreal. Weloganite is a very rare hydrated Na-Sr-Zr carbonate. Two distinctively different clusters of opposing crystals are aesthetically set on the elongated limestone matrix. All of the crystals have the typical layered tapered form. The impressive fan-shaped cluster has crystals to 1.1 cm and the opposing cluster of stouter crystals reach 1.0 cm. Formerly in the Sacchi Collection. Ex Francesco Bedogne Collection # 700. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector.
