Item Description
An impressive, large and very sculptural two-layered prehnite crust from this famous and extinct traprock quarry. Intergrown spherical aggregates of lustrous, translucent mint-green prehnites, most with a light gray oxide coating, have replaced anhydrite crystals. The bottom of the piece shows the hollow casts or epimorphs of prehnite, that coated the dissolved away sharp tabular anhydrite crystals. This piece has outstanding form and is rare in this style, size and quality. The hollow between the two prehnite crusts is most dramatic. Ex Dr. Ed David Collection. Ed was Science Advisor to President Nixon and assembled several world-class collections. A MUST for the locality or species collector.
