Item Description

A VERY RARE sharp and gemmy axinite crystal thumbnail from a most obscure Mexico locale. The glassy crystal has classic clove-brown color and a razor termination. Contacting on one side and the base has negligible impact to the high quality of this exceptional rarity. Previously from the Willard Perkin collection or dealer stock (note the label on his TN box). He is generally credited as the inventor of the "Perky box" for standard thumbnails display. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 6365 and acquired from Willard at the Glendale Show in 1971. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). The locality labels are incorrect. This rarity is from Mexico State. A must for the species or locality collector.
