Item Description

Rare style, colorful and impressive large combination calcite from Mexico. Sharp, blocky, lustrous, gray calcite rhombs, to 1.8 cm on edge, cover the undulating plate. Rust-red hematite dramatically and preferentially covers most of the rhombs AND the scattered striking fields of tiny glassy hemimorphite blades. Photos were forwarded to well-known Mexico expert Dr. Peter Megaw for review. The tiny hemimorphites place the piece in either Ojuela or Santa Eulalia, but the oxide matrix does not look right for either locality. He suggests Santa Eulalia would be the best fit. Ex Rob Sielecki Collection. A very fine and rare style large Mexico calcite combination.
