Item Description

Amethyst is uncommon from the famous mines of England, most specimens come from Cornwall or Devon. MINDAT does not list Cumbria for amethyst. This impressive, large and sculptural VERY RARE specimen is dominated by the sharply terminated, jagged crystals, to 3.5 cm, dominating the crest of the piece. The very glassy, translucent crystals have variable light blush-purple color with satin luster faces. The attachment on the back shows these crystals reach about 5.0 cm long. It is unlike Cornwall or Devon amethyst. From an East Coast collection. Undoubtedly old-time RARE amethyst, but no proof.
