Item Description

A classic Oklahoma barite "rose" from this obscure Cleveland County locale, known for exceptional specimens. Intergrown large "roses" of sand-included barite blades form a dramatically colorful and sculptural floater specimen. The roses from here are much larger, than most from nearby localties. This fine cluster was formed in the Permian-aged Garber Sandstone. Oxidized sand grains are included in the barite crystal structure with colorful effect. Nearly pristine, with only two small, barely-noticeable bruised "petals". Very choice and aesthetic 360-degree material with multiple display views. These are the Oklahoma State Rock. Classic barite from the Joe Lobell Collection. Joe is a well-known retired dealer and field collector of Oklahoma and Texas material. The quality on this one is over the top and specimens from here are rarely on the market.
