Item Description

A fascinating, dramatic and RARE combination from the famous Panasqueira Mine. Two aesthetically intergrown, very different sized, glassy, sharply terminated quartz crystals are attached to a quartz matrix plate and form a very sculptural specimen. The smaller quartz is water-clear throughout and the large crystal has a limpid termination with a transparent to translucent lower section. Dravite-Schorl Series tourmalines are known from the Panasqueira Mines, but specimens are seldom available. Tourmaline needles, to about 1.5 cm, are dramatically included in one side of the large quartz and saturate a side of the glassy quartz matrix plate. Fantastically, many of the needles project out of the matrix plate and have attached siderite rhombs! The preferential coatings of tan, flattened siderite rhombs are a classic accessory and contrast to this surreal and rare combination piece from the Art Soregaroli Collection. Even the mine level is known. A signifcant find. Complete all-around and pristine. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!
