Item Description

Mineral specimens are uncommon from this old coal mine, that closed in 1958 (MINDAT). An outstanding and sculptural cluster of very glassy, lustrous, translucent to transparent colorless prisms with sharp chisel terminations is aesthetically set on the galena matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8096 and acquired from the Cisneros' in February, 1977. Previously in two German collections, including the Kraft Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Ghostly white fluorescence. Very choice old-time combination material.
