Item Description

Bisbeeite was discovered at the Shattuck Mine in 1915. It was discredited as a species in 1977 and is thought to be a variety of Plancheite or Chrysocolla. It is present in many Shattuckite specimens at Bisbee. Blue-green starbursts of bisbeeite needles rest on classic rich blue shattuckite and matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 10332 and acquired from Carousel Minerals in April, 1984. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A RARE, showy and rich combination thumbnail from the Shattuckite Type Locality.
