Impressive and large calcite from the famous Valenciana Mine at Guanajuato. A striking large 8.6 cm tabular rhomb dominates this sculptural and rich piece. All of the many large rhombs have a sparkly sugary creamy texture and rest on a bed of smaller similar rhombs, adding contrast. The densely intergrown large rhombs add much character to this artistic piece. As a bonus, some of sugary crystals along the edges are hollow epimorphs (casts) of an earlier generation of calcite. A very uncommon calcite style from this mine. Choice and exceptional large calcite from the Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection, with even the mine level known. 2402 grams or 5.3 pound mass.
