Large Pyrite Concretion

An impressive and sculptural large pyrite concretion from China. These incredibly interesting pyrite concretions are some of the most unique specimens that we have seen from any locality. The small, sparkling, sharp, modified, metallic pyrite crystals have formed in amazingly concentric "rings" or "bands" on an unusually bulging "sphere" of shale. The large specimen resembles some kind of strange planet or covered basket, and almost has an organic look to it. A very cool specimen and certainly unusual. The contact at one end adds character. This is one of the more uncommon forms we have offered. 4.4 pounds or 2 kilos.
