Item Description

A classic and sculptural large two-sided combination barite specimen from this well-known barite mine, that closed in 2007. Tiny sharp, splendent iridescent chalcopyrite crystals are richly peppered on both sides of the dramatically different looking specimen of striking parallel-growth jackstraw clusters of very broad, lustrous, cream-colored barite blades. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 3510 and acquired from a German in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). An excellent and very fine large combination from the Dreislar Mine.
