Item Description

Brachiopod and Bryozoan (aquatic invertebrate animals) fragments are festooned on the large sculptural sawed limestone slab on this excellent example from Indiana. Some of the fragments are coated with bright brassy marcasite, adding dramatic color and pizzazz. The Waldron Shale is Silurian in age, 443-416 MYA. From the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
