Item Description

RARE style wulfenite crystals on this OLD-TIME sculptural small cabinet from the famous Erupcion Mine at Los Lamentos. The aesthetic vug features two rare wulfenite styles. Fantastic large pseudocubic crystals at the top have striking hoppered terminations and the dramatic large blocky crystal is 2.2 cm long. Classic bipyramidal, sharply terminated smaller crystals line the base of the vug. Rich caramel color highlights the frontal and a side view with the prisms having an oxide coating on the other side view. The two bruised crystals are certainly only a modest detraction to this rare old-timer. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1721 and acquired from Scott Williams in July, 1960 in Long Beach. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A remarkable, rare old-time Los Lamentos wulfenite with two rare styles of crystals.
