Item Description

St. Anne's Mine topaz crystals compare favorably with Brazilian pieces for intense, beautiful blue color saturation. This excellent, classic, thumbnail gem crystal is transparent and has bright satin luster faces. The very sharp chisel termination is textbook. Complete all-around on three sides, one end is dinged and a trivial bit of edge wear is noted on the termination, but is certainly a modest detraction. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7696 and acquired from well-known Canadian African dealer, Prosper Williams, in Denver in 1975, when they were coming out. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Topaz crystals of this quality and color density are seldom available from this locale. 26.81 carats or over 5 grams mass.
