Item Description
A VERY RARE combination from this ancient small Swiss Pb-Zn-Cu deposit, that was first worked in the 15th and 16th centuries (MINDAT). The mineralization was re-discovered during road construction works in 1978. Hemimorphite is known from here, but smithsonite is EXTREMELY RARE. Sprays of tiny colorless hemimorphites are scattered on the matrix and a couple of vivid pink cobaltoan smithsonite crystals, to 2 mm, along with scattered crusts are visible. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 9738 and acquired in October, 1982. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
