Item Description

A striking, sharp, steep termination highlights this impressive large apatite crystal from this famed Mexico iron mine. The textbook hexagonal crystal is very glassy, translucent and has the classic yellow-green color of Cerro Mercado apatites. A very fine large 360-degree crystal in great shape. The frontal display is pristine. The bruise on the back of termination and contacting on the back are out-of-sight. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5064 and acquired in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A classic and uncommonly large apatite from here.
