Item Description

A striking, older 5-piece suite of fantastically sculptural crystallized native copper specimens from this famous mine. The fabulous large arborescent piece is composed of elongated spinel-twins with a very nice cuprite-coated patina. The other four striking curled and curved dentritic pieces have overall spinel-twinned form and are composed of a myriad of tiny stacked tetrahexahedral crystals coated with malachite and RARE blue connellite. The White Pine was the last Copper Country mine to close, in 1995. It was the only Keweenaw mine to produce from the Nonsuch Shale, rather than from fissure veins, basaltic amygdaloid or conglomerate deposits. Outstanding old and RARE combination material from 1950s to 70s finds. Classic and excellent older Copper Country material on consignment from a private Michigan collection who gave it to us to auction for quick sale. Comes in a 15.7 x 13.4 x 2.1 cm box. Valued $2500
