Item Description

Well-crystallized mineral specimens are, in general, very uncommon from mineral deficient Texas, except for the Terlingua District, celestines from the Hill Country, topaz and REE's from the Llano Uplift and rare salt dome species. This showy piece comes from a limestone cement quarry south of Dallas. Two intergrown spherical clusters of lustrous, bronzy pyritohedrons with a limonite coating are dramatically set atop the limestone matrix. Uncommon and excellent 360-degree Texas pyrite! Ex Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection.
