Item Description

Fantastic frosted stepped-growth faces with gorgeous blue-green color highlight this sculptural translucent fluorite cuboctahedron set on massive quartz from a very famous and ancient Spanish silver-lead-zinc-iron mine. These came out in the 1980s. Cuboctahedrons of this size and style are very uncommon from here, as most fluorites are octahedrons or cubes. The piece GLOWS, when back lit and is much better in person. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 11428 and acquired from the From the Earth dealership at the 1988 Tucson Show. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Superb purple fluorescence.
