Item Description

A RARE and very sculptural two-sided combination from this famous ancient and extinct iron mine on Elba Island. Gypsum is RARE from here, but a 3.7 cm textbook lustrous doubly terminated crystal is dramatically set on the very artistic and sturdy matrix of malachite coating cuprite crystals. Is that also white calcite (uncommon) coating the cuprite crystals? Rich and rare copper ore with gypsum from the Ted Bartels Collection. The mines closed in the 1980s. Probably old-time material, but no proof. A must for the species or locality collector.
