Item Description

A striking and sculptural intergrown cluster of malachite pseudomorphs after large, tapered, doubly terminated, lozenge-shaped azurite crystals from famed Tsumeb. The dramatic intergrown pair are 3.2 cm tall. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5435 and acquired from Al McGuinness in the late 1960s. Kay had originally purchased the piece from the Shale's in 1958 for $10 for another collector. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Classic and excellent old-time malachite after azurite from Tsumeb. Value today???
