Item Description

An alluring and wonderful Calcite specimen from an undisclosed discovery in the Chenzhou Prefecture featuring a fairly stout, sharp, gemmy, golden crystal of Calcite forming a scepter habit perched atop dozens of other compressed Calcites which are overgrowing a preexisting "dogtooth" crystal in the center and coated by metallic golden Pyrite / Marcasite. If you look down on the termination of the main crsytal you can see that the three trigonal lines of the crystal faces are complimented every 60 degrees by a selective growth of Pyrite / Marcasite, creating an eye-catching three-pointed star. Now the piece is not damage free, as there are several nicks here and here, but it's still unlike anything we've seen from China and would make a great addition to a Calcite suite, a Chinese collection or a collection of minerals with attractive morphologies.
