Item Description

This locality is known for producing some of the most eye-catching Vesuvianites in the world. The stark green color of the crystals from this mine is instantly recognizable, and they are highly sought after by collectors and dealers alike. Here we have a lovely 6 specimen set of prismatic, sharp, lustrous, translucent, yellow-green colored Vesuvianites with classic steep pyramidal terminations. The majority of the crystals are singles, but a couple pieces have accessory crystals, creating nice groups. Some of the crystals are actually rather gemmy in areas, and nearly WATER CLEAR when backlit. I don't see any real damage with the naked eye, and this set would make a great addition to a thumbnail suite or a collection of Canadian minerals. The Jeffrey Mine is now completely defunct and these amazing Vesuvianite specimens are no longer being found. Ex Charlie Key personal collection. Charlie is arguably the most sucessful dealer of the second half of the 20th century, along with being the namesake for TWO mineral species (Keyite and Ludlockite).
