Item Description

Yellow is a RARE pyromorphite color from the classic El Horcajo Mine of Spain. Most specimens from here are green and were collected around 1920, when the mine was active. Lustrous rich yellow prisms, to about 8 mm, comprise this outstanding and rare colored miniature of solid crystallized pyromorphite from the Kay Robertson Collection # 1582. She acquired the piece from prominent California collector, Marion Godshaw, in the late 1950s or early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
